Left: Pedro Almodóvar on the set of 2006's Volver with Penelope Cruz and Lola Dueñas
Somehow, my Pedro Almodóvar-loving friends and I did not know about the festival of his movies running at the Harvard Exit (807 East Roy) RIGHT NOW! In an effort to make sure none of you miss any future screenings, I thought I'd drop the schedule in SIFFBlog [now Seattle Film Blog -Ed].
To be honest, I've only seen a few of his films: Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. I saw them to feed my Antonio Banderas obsession, but ended up loving them for lots of other reasons, so I'm looking forward to catching a few more on the big screen.
Schedule of Films:
WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN (1988): Sept. 1-7 Fri-Mon 2pm, 4:30, 7, 9:30; Tues-Thurs 4:30 pm, 7, 9:30
TALK TO HER (2002): Sept. 8-14, daily 4:30pm
THE FLOWER OF MY SECRET (1995): Sept. 8-14, daily 7pm
ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER (1999): Sept. 8-14, daily 9:30 pm; plus Fri-Sun 2pm
LIVE FLESH (1997): Sept. 15-21, daily 4:30pm
LAW OF DESIRE (1987): Sept. 15-21, daily 7pm
BAD EDUCATION (2004): Sept. 15-21, daily 9:30 p.m.; plus Sat-Sun 2pm
MATADOR (1986): Sept. 22-28, Fri-Sun 2 p.m., 4, 7, 9:30; Mon-Tues 4:30pm, 7, 9:30; Wed 4:30pm, Thurs 4:30pm, 7, 9:30.
There's also an official web site up. Almodóvar's new movie Volver opens in Seattle Nov 22. Image from High on Films.

I saw the trailer for this at 'Army of Shadows'. Is it upstairs?
ReplyDeleteNice! Anne was raving about this series last time I saw her, so here's hoping she chimes in... As for myself, I can recommend "Talk to Her," "All About My Mother," and "Live Flesh." The latter features a boffo performance from Javier Bardem--one of his best. "Bad Education" also boasts some fine acting, but I found it a letdown after the one-two punch of "Mother" and "Talk." Can't wait to see "Volver," which opens in Seattle on 11/22. The word on it is very good indeed.
